Autonomic division

• Only carried within segmental spinal nerves:

• Sympathetic - T1-L2, highly organised, widespread effect. Ganglion in sympathetic chain
• Parasympathetic - CN III, VII, IX, X, S2-S4, localised effect. Ganglion near effector organ

• Horner syndrome - injury to sympathetic supply to head and neck
  • Ptosis - drooping eye lids
  • Mitosis - constricted pupil
  • Anhydrosis - loss of sweating
