Acute progressive viral encephalitis

Highest case fatality of any infectious disease

1. Prodromal phase - fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, tingling at site of wound
2. Furious phase- agitation, disorientation, seizures, hydrophobia - can't treat past here
3. Dumb phase - paralysed disoriented, stuporous
4. Progress to coma then death
